Infection Control Technologies crew members prepare to remediate a COVID-19-positive library in New Jersey.
IRS has twenty-five staff with OSHA 40 HAZWOPER training. Several have advanced Bio-Safety Training and Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) training.
Tom Peter (CIH), CEO of IRS says, “We have American Bio Recovery Association (ABRA) Certified Bio Recovery Technicians (CBRTs), Certified Bio Recovery Supervisor (CBRS), a Certified Bio Recovery Master (CBRM), and a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) managing these cleanup projects. If the cleanup job is COVID-19 confirmed positive, we only send our BIOHAZARD response crews out to be sure they are properly trained and well protected. There is no room for error during these types of mitigation jobs.”
There are high-danger risks to both the crew members and inhabitants if technicians are not properly trained and appropriately protected.
“A typical custodial staff doesn’t have access to the full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) gear or the advanced disinfection tools to safely and effectively clean COVID-19 positive areas. IRS is uniquely qualified to be at the forefront of these efforts,” says Tom Peter (CIH), CEO of IRS. “No other contractor in the State holds all of the qualifications as our teams do.”
ICT technician performs fogging disinfection using SteramistTM disinfectant solution to penetrate otherwise inaccessible surfaces.
When the ICT division is called in for a COVID-19 positive decontamination, a two-step protocol is followed. Technicians begin with a deep-clean touch-point hand cleaning with a wet solution on all surfaces. This is followed by spray and fogging disinfection using SteramistTM or BioSprayTM disinfectant solutions to penetrate otherwise inaccessible surfaces. All of the products used are EPA-registered for virus cleanup with proven deactivation efficacy, and crews are protected with Powered Air Purifying Respirators (PAPRS), full-face respirators, suits, gloves and chemical cartridges.
“Our team members’ and clients’ health and safety are our top concern. Our customers trust our expertise and experience and are confident that ICT provides the most thorough and effective cleaning possible in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak,” says Peter.
