The American Bio Recovery Association held its 21st annual conference August 14th – 17th in Atlantic City, NJ. The focus of this year’s conference was Fentanyl/Carfentanil, an extremely potent drug which has seen a recent growth in usage and exposures. Among the more than 72,000 drug overdose deaths estimated in 2017, the sharpest increase occurred among deaths related to fentanyl and fentanyl analogs (synthetic opioids) with nearly 30,000 overdose deaths. American Bio Recovery Association -ABRA

The American Bio Recovery Association (ABRA) is an international association of crime scene clean up, trauma scene, hoarding clean up & meth lab clean up recovery professionals who are dedicated to upholding the highest technical, ethical and educational guidelines of the biohazard remediation industry.

Tom Licker, ABRA president and Division Manager of IRS’ Infection Control Technologies, says, “This is an important annual event for the Bio Recovery industry. Sharing information from the front lines is critical to advance today’s remediation and infection control methods and tools.”

The conference was attended by industry professionals from all across American and abroad including attendees from Europe and Australia. Attendees were also able to achieve Certified Bio Recovery Technician status if they elected to take and pass the rigorous examination. Presentation topics included:
